…was on Tuesday, April 12, at the Dover Public Library and State Legislative Hall. This important annual event helps promote libraries to our State Legislators. Governor Markell gave the Proclamation in his chambers in the afternoon.
During the morning session, we learned about the primary library initiatives and advocacy tips for gaining support. Our keynote speaker was Kevin Swed (DLA Legislative Action Committee Chair) who taught us about “Making an Impact”. Dr. Annie Norman, County Librarians Diana Brown (NCC), Kathy Graybeal (Sussex County) and Hilary Welliver (Kent County), UD’s Sandra Millard and DDL’s John Phillos offered talking points on the library initiatives – they key issues we face – to help us target focal areas when meeting with our legislators. As Kevin reminded us, ongoing relationships with our legislators is an essential key for strengthening funding and support for Delaware’s libraries – and all our communities.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and honor libraries.
