The Board of Commissioners of the Georgetown Public Library (DE) are seeking a Library Director. The library is located in Georgetown, Delaware and serves a diverse population of approximately 7,300. Georgetown is the county seat of Sussex County, Delaware.
Responsibilities: The Library Director performs complex professional work planning, directing and coordinating the operation of the library, developing and administering library policies and procedures, working with the 5 member appointed library board on financial and facility planning, preparing and presenting required reports, maintaining institutional records and statistical data, and other related work as assigned. Supervision is exercised over all personnel within the library.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is preferred with at least 3 years of library experience including experience in a supervisory role. The successful candidate will also demonstrate ethical leadership with a strong commitment to customer service, inclusion, diversity and community engagement. Other desired qualifications include a knowledge of public library trends and best practices.
Compensation. The starting salary range is $45,000 to $50,000 and is dependent on qualifications. The position includes a benefits package.
