Librarian I (part-time 18 hours per week)
The City of Dover Public Library seeks an enthusiastic part-time Librarian to join our team in our Youth Services department. We seek applicants who love working with people and are comfortable working with children and teens. It is expected that some time will also be spent at the other library service desks depending on Library need. The successful candidate will assist all library customers with readers’ advisory; reference services; and tech questions in person, on the telephone, and electronically. Programming, creating program advertisements, and collection development will be required. A keen interest in and experience with STEM and technology is desired.
The Library, in the heart of historic Dover, the state capital, is very busy and serves a diverse community. The position requires a strong customer service ethic. Prior experience working with children and teens is required. The successful candidate must be able to make informed decisions independently and to communicate those decisions pleasantly and effectively. Familiarity with changing technology is essential. This 18 hour per week (up to 29 hours depending on library needs) position requires evening; weekend and other on-call hours. The position requires an ALA-accredited MLS. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
