NEW FOR 2020!  The Delaware Library Association is planning to be in Legislative Hall twice this year!

Wednesday, January 22 & Tuesday, May 12, 2020

That’s double the exposure for Delaware libraries!

Wednesday, January 22nd, is DLA Legislative Day Lite.  This day will offer participants professional development that aims to help all libraries build their data and stories for advocacy throughout the year.  This day will also help participants start to plan for a full day of library advocacy in May.

Agenda, beginning at 9:30am:

  • Registration
  • Light brunch will be provided

At 9:45am:

  • Eli Turkel, a former Delaware legislative aide, will present a workshop covering tips and tricks for speaking with your legislator and legislative aide
  • Secretary of State, Jeffrey Bullock, will remark on the current budget landscape
  • State Librarian, Dr. Annie Norman, will remark on libraries and their funding history
  • Administrative Librarian, John Phillos, will discuss current library construction initiatives

At 11:30am:

  • DLA will host an exhibit in Legislative Hall to promote library services and make libraries visible to all legislators and visitors
  • Participants are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to meet with their legislators.

At 2:00pm:

  • A proclamation will be read in the House and Senate to celebrate Library Legislative Day!
