The Board of Trustees of the Delaware City Library Society is seeking a library director for the Delaware City Library. Delaware City is a small town of approximately 1,800. The library is a 501(c)3 and is an independent contract library of the New Castle County Library System. Funding derives primarily from New Castle County and the state of Delaware. There are three FT and three PT staff members.
The director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all activities of the library including personnel, collection development, programming, budgeting, and facilities management. The director works closely with the board of trustees to determine general policies. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader who has had experience managing daily operations in a public library. The director will be an integral part of the community by collaborating with other agencies to promote the library. The director will also lead strategic planning efforts and demonstrate a commitment to public service. The director must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with other community leaders and the general public.
Candidates must have an ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required; knowledge of Intuit QuickBooks is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position requires regularly scheduled evening and weekend hours. Candidates are subject to background and other pre-employment checks.
