The Youth Services Division of the Delaware Library Association invites you to a Book Repair Workshop with professional bookbinder Ramon Townsend from The Colonial Bindery in Exton, PA. The workshop will be held virtually on Friday, November 5th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
The goal of the workshop is to introduce participants to the basic materials and steps employed in most book repair work. Participants will be virtually taught basic book repair techniques, and in the process learn about the book’s components and traditional hand bookbinding methods. Participants will deconstruct the book by removing the text block from the front cover board and spine; scrape off glue and any lining from the exposed spine; remove several signatures; perform paper repair; resew the book; and reattach the front cover board and spine.
To register, fill out this form: https://forms.gle/FC5QE2r5KwwERmvJA
All registrants will receive the Zoom link ahead of the workshop.
All DLA divisions and non-DLA members are welcome to attend the workshop.
