Delaware Library Legislative Day 2018
Register here. Registration ends on April 17.
The registration form should take you less than 3 minutes to complete.
Each year library advocates from across Delaware State converge on Dover to voice their support for funding and policies that benefit libraries.
Summary of Event
The day begins and ends at the Dover Public Library. Check-in starts at 8:30 am.
Just before noon, we head over to a buffet-style lunch at Legislative Hall, and may share this meal with some of our legislators and government officials and their aides. Meetings with legislators will also take place in Legislative Hall. Be prepared for airport-like security while entering the building (bring ID).
Legislative Day Packets
Materials are distributed to attendees to use in their meetings with legislators and staff during the morning. We will discuss the initiatives and go over talking points to prepare attendees for their meetings. Delaware Library Support Documents and Funding Initiatives for 2019 are available for your to review.
Legislative Office Visits
Meetings with individual Legislators (or their office staff) are coordinated by Delaware Library Association Legislative Action Committee members. The DLA Legislative Action Committee will have a listing of all the legislative office visits that we have been made aware of on Legislative Day.
Members of the Legislature have been invited to have their photographs taken for Passion Posters. These give us a glimpse into another, and often fun side of our Senators and Representatives. Attendees will learn more about this on April 24. To learn more about your legislator now (click here and enter your address to find out who your legislators are), see the State of Delaware Senators and House of Representatives listings to view their sponsored bills and votes, and be sure to check out their Facebook and Twitter pages if they have one.
