DASL Awards

The Delaware Association of School Librarians (DASL) accepts nominations for a selection of DASL-specific awards each year. These awards represent the best in the state in the area of school librarianship and school libraries.  This year’s awards include:

2023 – 2024 Awards:

Outstanding Library Media Specialist/School Librarian

The Delaware Association of School Librarians (DASL) is seeking nominations for Outstanding Library Media Specialist/School Librarian in the 2023-2024 School Year. This award goes to a certified school librarian who demonstrates excellence in the field and is an active member of their school community.

School librarians can nominate themselves or can be nominated by supportive members of the school community. Requirements and qualifications are detailed in the attached rubric. Nomination portfolios are due on or before April 26, 2024, and can be submitted to Harry Brake, DASL Past President (information is below).

The award can be presented at either a school board meeting, special assembly, or at the Annual End of Year Dinner for DASL held in May.  The DASL Executive Board appreciates your time and consideration in recognizing outstanding school librarians.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact  Harry Brake, Outgoing DASL President.

Administrator Award for Excellence

Nominees should be administrators or administrative teams who demonstrate support for school libraries and school libraries in the State of Delaware.

The Delaware Association of School Librarians (DASL) is seeking nominations for the Administrator’s Award for Excellence in the 2023-2024 School Year. This award should be presented to school administrators or administrations that demonstrate support for school libraries and school librarians in the State of Delaware.

We hope you will take the time to review the qualifications in the attached rubric and nominate your school’s administration or an individual administrator. Nomination letters are due on or before April 26, 2024, and can be submitted to Harry Brake, DASL President, either via email or regular mail (contact information below).

The award can be presented at either a school board meeting, special assembly, or at the Annual End of Year Dinner for DASL- held in May.
