In Memoriam

The Delaware Library Association honors the following members and librarians who have sadly passed on. We are so honored to have worked with you. Thank you for your dedication to DLA and for your advocacy for Delaware Libraries.

Brenda H. Ferris: Ferris, 82, of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully on December 14, 2025, with her loving family at her side. A professional librarian by training, Brenda began her career at Wilmington Public Library, where she met her late husband, Jeffrey. Brenda spent over 20 years with New Castle County Libraries at Concord Pike Library before retiring in 2000. Read Ferris’ obituary here.

Mary Rose Durk: Age 74 of Dover, DE, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday December 13th, 2025. She obtained a Masters in Library Science from Drexel University and was employed at the Delaware Public Archives and Delaware State University Library, retiring in 2013. Read Durk’s obituary here.
