Brandywine Hundred Library receives the Community Engagement Grant award!

On Friday, February 16th, members of the Delaware Library Association executive board presented the Brandywine Hundred Library with the Community Engagement Grant award. The Brandywine Library received this grant in order to put the Go out & Play! Physical Literacy initiative in action.

Public Relations chair, Terri Jones, and Web Site chair, Sara Thomas, discussed the grant with Bernadette Davis, youth services librarian. She said that her inspiration was to take the library outside of the physical walls of the library. She said there is a difference between the physical location of the library and what the library has to offer. The library’s offerings include equipment, activities, and a big backyard! Bernadette is hoping to partner with many different local organizations including Nemours Kids Health, the Parks and Recreation department, and college students. Bernadette is a proud DLA member and she excited to get started on this initiative!

Other attendees of the grant award include: Kay Bowes, Friends of Delaware Libraries President; Diana Brown, New Castle County Manager of Libraries; Michelle Hughes, DLA President; Jean Kaufman, Brandywine Hundred Library manager; Cathay Keough, DLA Executive Director; Mindy Roberts, Brandywine Hundred Library intern; and Joel Rudnick, DLA Treasurer.
