37.5 hours per week
$51,870 annually plus benefits
Must be able to work day, evening, and weekend hours

Job summary:

Develops and sustains a compelling positive vision for systemwide programs, services, and special projects for children and teens; supports and serves as advocate for Summer Reading, Battle of the Books, and Teen Services teams; presents public programs; trains staff on best practices for serving children, teens, and their caregivers based on current research and practice; represents CCPL at local, state, and national forums as an expert on youth services; performs other duties as assigned.

This position is located at the Mount Airy Branch of CCPL. Approximately 60% of the work is dedicated to supporting systemwide activities and 40% in support of branch activities.

Required Education/Experience:                 

  1. Bachelor’s degree is required.
  2. Master’s degree from an ALA-Accredited program in Library and Information Studies, Education, or related field of study is preferred.
  3. Non-MLIS applicants – Requires 90 contact hours of approved in-service training through Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within first 2 years of employment or 9 hours of formal academic course work in library science.
  4. Three or more years of experience working with children.
