President Obama has nominated the next Librarian of Congress; hearing on April 20

Update: Dr. Carla Hayden’s nomination hearing will be on April 20. ALA is circulating a letter encouraging Congress to confirm Dr. Hayden as the next Librarian of Congress by asking library associations to sign on the letter in support of her nomination.  Delaware Library Association’s executive board has agreed.

President Obama has nominated Dr. Carla Hayden to be the next Librarian of Congress. She is the CEO of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland and the first female and the first African American to be nominated as the Librarian of Congress. She is also one of a very few Librarians of Congress to be a credentialed librarian.
